The phases of our coffee

At dfrnt we want to preserve the authenticity and original characteristics of coffee. That's why we take care of every detail in the different phases of the process to achieve an optimal quality coffee in your cup. Do you want to know the different stages our coffee goes through?

  1. Cultivation: Our coffee comes from 26 farms in Risaralda (Andean region of Colombia) at 1600 meters above sea level. There is an ideal combination of climate and soil that allows for the exceptional conditions of our product.
  2. Harvesting : The time of harvesting is determined by the colour of the cherry, which contains the coffee beans. A careful and manual selection is carried out to optimise the quality of our coffee to preserve its flavour and unique character.
  3. Processing : This is the phase in which the green coffee bean is extracted from the cherry. There are two types of processing: washed and natural. The combination of both produces a hybrid commonly known as honey .
  4. Roasting : The green coffee bean is imported from Colombia and remains in optimal storage conditions until the next phase: roasting. Here, the bean undergoes changes in its color, volume, density, flavor and weight. It is a key process, as it will determine the aroma, body, flavor, degree of acidity, and other properties of the product that will determine the final quality. In our case, our coffee beans are roasted at 174 degrees for 15 minutes to obtain a coffee that retains its nuances, natural oils and its authentic original flavor.
  5. Packaging : After having carefully controlled this previous phase, the coffee is packaged. Packaging with one-way valves is used to expel the carbon dioxide released by the coffee after roasting and prevent the entry of air.
  6. Preservation : To preserve the quality of the coffee, it is essential to use containers that isolate it from external elements such as humidity, heat, air, light or odours, which could alter its natural characteristics. To keep the product in optimal condition, if it is expected to be consumed within a week of purchase, it is best to store it in an airtight container.
